Manhattan is a growing and diverse community of families, working professionals and college student less than 60 miles west of Topeka. The nearby Army base, Ft. Riley, Kansas State University and Manhattan Christian College are among the reasons that Manhattan remains a fresh, relevant and diverse home for a growing many. After spending some quality time in MHK it becomes easy to see why Manhattan is among the fastest growing Metropolitan Statistical Areas (Manhattan Economic Development).  

Manhattan's placement within the unique Flint Hills geographic region offers a number of outdoor activities from hiking, biking and kayaking. Additionally, there are countless opportunities to explore the unexpected scenery the Flint Hills offer.

 

 

Manhattan School Districts

Rock Creek/ St George

USD 323 is located 15 miles from Manhattan, and covers 230 square miles spanning the entire length of Pottawatomie County. The District is mostly rural and has two communities within its boundaries.

 

Riley County 

USD 378 is located about 25 miles Northwest of Manhattan, Kansas. The district consists of Riley County Grade School (Pre-Kindergarten through eighth-grade) and Riley County High School (grades 9-12).

Manhattan Ogden

USD 383 consists of ten elementary schools, a middle school and a high school (split between two campuses). The district is known for excellence in teaching. 
 

Wamego

USD 320 is located 15 miles east of Manhattan and is well known for their educational awards and achievements.  One of their most recent honors include being ranked #8 by US News and World Report on Best High Schools for College Prep in Kansas and many teachers and district directors have won awards for teaching and curriculum excellence.
